 The Director, Centacare Pastoral Ministries, fosters the growth, formation and development of Centacare Pastoral Ministries within the Mission and Direction of Centacare and the Archdiocese of Brisbane.

Our Pastoral Ministries provide a range of services in the community that include health care and correctional institutions, throughout the Archdiocese of Brisbane. Everyday, Pastoral Ministries make a difference by providing pastoral care to a growing number of individuals and their families through: Hospital Chaplaincy; Prison Chaplaincy; Prison Ministry; Indigenous Support; Seafarers Support and Psychiatric Pastoral Care.

This position is full-time, although there is flexibility for lesser hours in consultation with the successful candidate. The position is responsible for:

• Leadership in Pastoral Ministry

• Management and Oversight of all Centacare Pastoral Ministry initiatives

• Facilitating the delivery of Pastoral Ministries programs and services

• Development of annual operational plans and budgets

• Monthly financial report monitoring

• Remedial interventions when required

• Promotion of the works of social justice undertaken by Centacare within the community at large

• Network facilitation across Centacare Directorates and between allied church and NFP organisations and appropriate government agencies

• Formation guidance for Centacare staff and volunteers engaged in pastoral ministry activities

Candidates require:

• Detailed knowledge and understanding of the structure and operation of the Catholic Church at a local and universal dimension

• Tertiary degree in the social sciences and/or higher degree studies in theology or equivalent with a Post-graduate diploma in Ministry or equivalent

• Management experience and Proven leadership capability

• Commitment to mission and directions of the Archdiocese

• An interest in contemporary social justice issues and pastoral needs in the community at large

• Significant experience in effective practices in a pastoral setting

• Proven experience in pastoral leadership

• Proven experience in group facilitation and conflict resolution.

• To be a person of faith, living a lifestyle of justice and compassion in the Catholic tradition
