AS another school year looms, Brisbane Catholic Education is preparing to open two new schools and 10 new preschools.
It is a sign of the vitality of the Catholic education sector, not just in south-east Queensland, but around Australia.
Prime Minister John Howard acknowledged last week that private schools – including presumably Catholic schools – have the edge over public schools when it comes to the values they espouse.
It appears that many parents think so too.
If only government funding for Catholic schools was fairer to reflect their preferred status among parents choosing to give their children the best education.
