New Vincentians: Making their commitment are, from left, Maria Peck, Jennifer Oss and Romilde Busiko.

THREE Charters Towers women recently made their commitment as Vincentians at a ceremony during Mass.

Local businesswoman Jennifer Oss, Maria Peck from the executive team of Columba Catholic College and Romilde Busiko, recently retired as parish secretary after 12 years, made their commitment on August 11.

During the ceremony, conference president Meg Ogilvie outlined the history of the St Vincent de Paul Society and its mission within the community.

Parish priest Fr Michael Taylor presented each woman with a candle, the Vincentian Rule Book and also their Vincentian name badge.
They were urged to wear these with humility and openness to others.

Fourth new member, community worker Mel Norton will make her commitment later in the year.
