Bishop delivers Vatican II presentations in Townsville

BISHOP Michael Putney is sharing his love of the Church in an ongoing series of presentations throughout Townsville diocese.

He said his cancer-related illness had been part of the motivation to deliver the talks.

“Since my illness, a number of people have asked me about different parts of the church and what I believe is important,” he said.

“These sessions will make it easy for me to share this information with a large number of people.

“The first presentation was an easy one as we have just completed the Year of Grace and we are now into The Year of Faith, so it made sense to start there.

“The topics for the rest of the year cover areas like Vatican II, Pope’s that have impacted my life and the Church in Australia.”

Due to the size of the diocese, all the talks are streamed via YouTube so people from across the diocese can participate and be involved.

“This has been a wonderful experience,” Bishop Putney said.

“We have had over 100 people to each of the two talks so far.

“Many more have been viewing via the internet either live or at a later time that suits them.”

The next presentation will be on October 1 commencing at 7pm in the Holy Spirit Hall.

The topic is “How Vatican II Changed my life more than once”.
